About The Harbor Rose

Comfortable Elegance and Hospitality in a Conscious Environment

The Harbor Rose Bed and Breakfast near Huntingon, NY is a historic home built in 1849. It served as the rectory to St. John's Church until 1936. Located in the heart of Cold Spring Harbor, our bed and breakfast features water views & rooms with working fireplaces. Our house is adjacent to Long Island hiking trails.

Our extraordinary, historic home provides guests with eco-friendly, comfortable elegance. Our hospitality has a conscious environment with modern amenities. The Harbor Rose is a home where history and modern living peacefully coexist. Enjoy great attention to details including luxury linens, organic amenities and high quality purified alkaline water. About Our Family Lifestyle

We are a Vegan/Vegetarian, Christian/Buddhist family and maintain an organic, non-toxic household. Our home is set on a hill in the woods overlooking the shoreline. We do not attempt to control nature with pesticides, but rather create boundaries with essential oils.

Occasionally, especially in early spring, harmless lady bugs and "stink bugs" can lose their way. Should this happen, please contact the Innkeeper to relocate them back outside.

About the Innkeeper

Deirdre, a single Mom, is a solo Innkeeper and arranges her day around your anticipated check-in time. She is most appreciative when you provide her with travel updates at least one hour before your arrival time. As a one-woman show, anticipate family members, including her young daughter, to help and assist guests during your stay.

Check in is between 3:00 - 6:00. Check in between 9:00 pm and 10PM is possible if prearranged and a $30 late check in fee will be applied.

At The Harbor Rose Bed and Breakfast, we consistently deliver a unique lodging experience in a peaceful, eco-friendly resort setting. We only ask that you communicate your desires, and we will do our best to assist in every way. The entire house features several sitting areas to relax and enjoy.
Prince the Dog

Prince is another member of our family. He is a 25 lbs Moyan Poodle so nobody is allergic to him. Both his parents were therapy dogs so he is very sweet and loving. He loves to meet the guests to calm and reduce their travel stress. You can meet him when you check-in.

The Harbor Rose Bed and Breakfast is located at the western edge of historic Cold Spring Harbor Village and less than one mile from Huntington Village (voted Best Village on Long Island 5 years running). The area features over 80 restaurants, mostly owned by chefs! It is rich in history, with many historic sites, abundant unique retail, live entertainment venues including the Paramount Theater, parks, beaches, and waterfront venues. Walk to the Cold Spring Harbor Labs, St Johns Historic Church, several nature conservatories, and the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery.

Enjoy the local beaches and water sports, museums, parks, hiking and biking trails, festivals, and boutique shopping. Request our area guidebook to assist in planning your visit. The Harbor Rose Bed and Breakfast is minutes from the Vanderbilt Planetarium, Sagamore Hill, and Teddy Roosevelt's summer home. The Long Island Railroad is only one mile away to whisk you to Manhattan in a mere 50 minutes. All guest rooms feature free local and long-distance calls, wireless Internet, and luxurious 800 TC Egyptian cotton linens. We serve bottled alkaline water.

THE HARBOR ROSE POLICIES

  • CHECK IN:
    Covid 19 Procedures to ensure your safety,
    Please Remember to :
    1. Make a check-in appointment (available every 15 minutes) and call 516-482 -2740 when you are in the parking area:
    2. Wear a mask and remove shoes when you enter and help yourself to a pair of slippers
    3. Check-in is by APPOINTMENT between 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm EST As we use UV medical grade lights to disinfect the guest rooms before check-in. This process requires a min of 1.5 hours to complete. Late check-in is between 9:00 pm -10:00 pm EST for an additional fee of $30 – If you arrive after 10:00 pm the fee will be $30 per hour. Please contact the innkeeper via her cell phone at +1516-836-1621.
    As always: Present Credit Card Upon Arrival for Potential Incidentals.



  • PARKING:
    We offer one parking spot per guest room - if you booked one room please arrive with only 1 car. We cannot accommodate oversize vehicles.


  • CANCELLATION:
    We are a small boutique hotel and cancellations affect us significantly, every reservation we receive is important and special to us. We take great care in preparing for your arrival - from room preparation to arranging any special requests for you. We sincerely appreciate each reservation we receive! It means we've committed to having your room ready and available upon your arrival.

    If you have any concerns about possibly having to cancel, we do recommend inexpensive trip insurance available at www.InsureMyTrip.com We also encourage you to transfer your reservation as a gift to a friend or family member rather than cancel.

  • REFUNDS:
    In the event of a pandemic, government shutdown, or an uncontrollable event, vouchers will be issued instead of refunds.

    (minus the cancellation fee*) a refund will be honored when the reservation is for 1 room and canceled 31 days or more prior to the arrival date.
    Refunds are not available when (a) your reservation was for 1 night or (b) you reserved more than 1 room or (c) cancellation is requested 31 days or less prior to the arrival date or (d) your reservation is for more than 1 room or (e) Late arrival or early departure falls within this cancellation policy.
    *Cancellation fee is equal to the average cost of a one-night stay for the room reserved.


  • CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT TIMES:
    Check-in time is made by appointment - from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Late check-in requests have to be pre-arranged and confirmed (a) when you reserve your room or (b) 1 hour prior to your arrival by call/text 516-633-2768 to make sure your host, Deirdre, is available to greet you. Check-out: 11:00AM. You are welcome to store your luggage here and enjoy the day and return later to collect your things. Late check-outs can be arranged for a fee of $25 per hour. With a maximum of an additional 2 hours. In the event you are not checked out of your room by 11:00 AM, we reserve the right to charge your method of payment for the additional time. Assistance with your luggage is available from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.


  • ROOM RATES:
    All rates are per room, double occupancy. Tax Rates: NYS Sales tax is 8.625%, Suffolk County Occupancy Tax is 3%. Rates and minimum stays are subject to change on holidays and special events based on demand. Prices and terms are subject to change without notice.


  • NON-SMOKING POLICY:
    Guests who smoke in a nonsmoking room will be charged $250.00 (plus applicable taxes) for deep cleaning service. They will also be responsible for any losses or damage the Hotel may suffer.


  • ACCESSIBILITY:
    Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate people with disabilities


  • PETS:
    We offer 2 Dog-Friendly rooms for well-behaved dogs. The Vanderbilt room can accommodate a dog 60 lbs or less. The Harbor hill room welcomes dogs under 30 lbs. Dogs are not permitted on the beds.

    The Inn currently allows guests to bring their dogs to the Hotel. The Inn has a strict Pet Policy that our pet owners must follow in order to ensure that all of our guests enjoy their stay in maximum comfort. In summary, the Inn only allows dogs under sixty (60) pounds to stay at the Hotel and guests may only have one (1) dog per room. Guests are responsible for an initial pet cleaning fee of $130.00 (nonrefundable) per reservation in addition to a $15.00 per night fee throughout one's stay. Ultimately guests are responsible for all the actions of their pets. This includes any and all damage to the Hotel (physically and financially). Be sure to contact the hotel in advance in regards to your pet. The Hotel reserves and maintains the right to charge a guest for not adhering to the entire Pet Policy.

    Dogs are not allowed in the common areas at any time. This includes The Entrance Lobby, Living Room, Music Room. Pet owners are responsible for the sanitary clean-up and disposal of their dog’s waste.



  • VALUABLES:
    The Harbor Rose does not accept any liability for loss of or damage to any valuables or property belonging to guests or to their visitors.

    It is, therefore, the sole responsibility of all guests to make arrangements for adequate insurance coverage on all valuable items prior to arrival at The Harbor Rose This includes but is not limited to, photographic equipment, laptops or other electronic devices, jewelry, cash, and vehicles.


  • GENERAL INDEMNITY FOR ACCOMMODATIONS
    Whilst every care has been taken by The Harbor Rose to ensure the safety of guests and their possessions whilst enjoying our accommodations, The Harbor Rose does not accept any liability in the event that any loss or damage to persons or property is experienced by a guest.


  • DAMAGES:
    LOSS OF DAMAGE TO The Harbor Rose BED AND BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATIONS

    Should The Harbor Rose Bed and Breakfast suffer any loss or damage as a result of omission by a guest or visitor or guest, the guest will remain liable for full reimbursement of such loss or damage incurred and will be billed accordingly.


  • ARRIVAL TIMES
    3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
    If arriving outside of check-in times, please call to make arrangements.

    AUTO-COLLECT
    At the time of booking, 100% of the reservation balance will be collected. Payment for all retail items and gift certificates will also be collected. Applies to: all reservations.


    CHILDREN & PETS
    Children are welcome with an accompanying adult. Children age 12 and under stay free. Pets are welcome. Pets must weigh under 60 pounds. We offer 2 Dog Friendly rooms for well behaved calm dogs over 3 years old and under 60 lbs. Dogs are not permitted on the beds. Our hard wood floors are 170 years old and dogs are required to have their nails clipped before arriving so they don't scratch and damage the floors. The Inn currently allows guests to bring their dogs in the Hotel. The Inn has a strict Pet Policy that our pet owners must follow in order to ensure that all of our guests enjoy their stay in maximum comfort. In summary, the Inn only allows dogs under thirty (60) pounds to stay at the Hotel and guests may only have one (1) dog per room. Guests are responsible for an initial fee of $75.00 (nonrefundable) in addition to a $15.00 per night fee throughout one's stay. Ultimately guests are responsible for all the actions of their pets. This includes any and all damage to the Hotel (physically and financially). Be sure to contact the Hotel in advance in regards to your pet. The Hotel reserves and maintains the right to charge a guest for not adhering to the entire Pet Policy. Dogs are not allowed in the common areas at any time. This includes The Entrance Lobby, Living Room, Music Room. Pet owners are responsible for the sanitary clean-up and disposal of their dog’s waste. A garbage can is provided by the 2 car garage doors.
